They’re refreshing and fun, and they won’t sabotage your weight loss program. They’re slushies and slushy pops: Summer’s ultimate thirst quenchers.

Hi, it’s Jan D’Atri and today I’m sharing a recipe that’s easy to make, tastes delicious, and will help you lose weight and keep it off. This is Clean Eating, the Red Mountain Way!

Pick a flavor and pick a cooler. What’s unique about these slushies is they’re made with gelatin. Any flavor, as long as it’s sugar-free – cherry, orange, strawberry-banana, strawberry, or lime! Or, you could make a refreshing slushie with unflavored gelatin and powdered drinks like Crystal Light and your favorite zero-calorie beverages like Zero Gatorade, diet root beer, and Zevia sodas.

What really gives these slushies a kick is lemon juice! Now, lemon not only brings out the flavor in food and drinks, but it’s also super high in vitamin C. and, studies have shown that adding foods to your diet that are rich in vitamin C can help reduce the risk of developing heart disease and stroke!

So, let’s have some fun! how about a strawberry Jell-O® slushy?

In a bowl, add a package of sugar-free strawberry Jell-O®, 1 cup of boiling water, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, and give it a good stir. Then, measure out one cup of soda and add it to the bowl. Then, pour the mixture into a baking dish and freeze for several hours or overnight. When it’s hardened, scoop it up and into a glass. Add more soda, top it off with more slushy, garnish with strawberry and lemon, and you have a Super Slurpee Strawberry Slushie!

How about a root beer slushie? Start with a packet of unflavored gelatin and add a cup of boiling water. Give it a stir, then measure out a cup of zero-calorie root beer. Mix it in and freeze it the same way. Then, scrape it up, fill your mug, add more soda, and you’ve got yourself a rootin-tootin Red Mountain Root Beer Slushie!

Follow the same method for any flavor! For a lime drink. I use lime Jell-O® and Diet 7-Up for a luscious locale lime slushie.

Orange version? Try orange Crystal Light and gelatin. Scoop it in a glass with zero-calorie orange soda. And orange you glad you know how to make these now?

For a kid-friendly version, make the slushy mixture the same way and pour it into popsicle molds. Cute, right?

The really great thing about gelatin slushies is the gelatin! Many studies have been done about the health benefits of it. High in amino acids, gelatin promotes glowing skin, strengthens joints and bones and hair and nails. And like collagen, gelatin is packed with the anti-aging superstars, glycine and proline So, slurp away! It’s all part of a delicious way to find a weight loss program that’s fun!
