A healthy, clear complexion is the end-goal for skin care consumers alike. However, it can be difficult to discover products that effectively address skin concerns & prevent future issues.

According to Jamie Fox, our Med Spa Training Manager, it’s very important to first recognize that using skin care is an investment in the skin’s health overall. While medical-grade skin care can carry additional costs, their benefit is exponential.

Buyers should be seriously analyzing the ingredient labels on their favorite products. Fox, who has been in the aesthetic industry for over 17 years, educates that people “always look for the ‘active ingredients’ in a product. This shows that what you are putting on your skin is high quality and corrective.” Often times, drug store brands or over-the-counter products “can contain more fillers and perfumes than beneficial ingredients”.

Skin care goes beyond just skin care products and its ingredients. You also have to think about the quality of ingredients in your makeup, too, especially your foundation. Red Mountain just released its newest foundation, Oxygenetix. It has an aloe vera base, making it both antibacterial and soothing to the skin, with a long-lasting formula that’s easy to apply. The key to amassing a collection of quality makeup is looking for clean, non-toxic, natural products like Oxygenetix.

It’s also recommended to not mix and match your medical-grade & over-the-counter brands. As mentioned, over-the-counter skin care products do not have high-quality ingredients, and so, when mixed together with medical-grade skin care products, the treatment will lose its effectiveness due to the different kinds of ingredients. The benefit of using the same brand is that you already know that they are made to work in harmony with each other. However, if you mixed medical-grade skin care brands with each other, since the products are already in the same category, the likelihood of a synergistic combination is quite high.

We encourage you to book a complimentary consultation with one of our Medical Aesthetic Team members to discuss a personalized skin care regimen for your skin. They can also guide you to the best in office treatments to compliment your skin care routine for the best outcomes to combat sun damage, aging, dull or acneic skin.
