Dermal filler treatments accounted for more than 9 million procedures in 2015, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. We’re not surprised. Many visible signs of aging can be linked to volume loss — and this is where dermal fillers can help! The treatment can help restore volume and aid to smooth your wrinkles, plump your lips, and ultimately achieve a youthful appearance.
What are fillers?
Facial fillers are temporary solutions that rejuvenate the facial skin by restoring volume and smoothing out wrinkles. At Red Mountain Weight Loss®, we carry the Juvéderm® Collection of Fillers. The Juvéderm collection are hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers. HA is a natural gel-like substance in the skin that delivers nutrients and helps keep skin plump and hydrated.
What areas can fillers be used for?
Fillers can be used almost anywhere in the face. The most common areas are: temples, cheeks, tear troughs, smile lines, jowls, chin, jawline and lips. They can also be used to restore droopy, sagging earlobes and rejuvenate wrinkly, aging hands.
Can you describe the procedure? Is it painful? Is it quick?
Fillers are much less painful than you think. We apply a topical numbing cream prior to the procedure which makes it very comfortable. When you arrive, you will have photos taken and numbing is applied 20 minutes prior to the injections. From start-to-finish you will be in the office 45 minutes to an hour.
How soon will I see results?
Results are immediate. You will also have some mild temporary swelling to the area, that will resolve in 48-72 hours. Your results will soften over 2 weeks to give you a natural rejuvenated look.
How long do results last?
They last approximately 9-12 months, requiring only annual touch-ups and treatments.
Are fillers safe?
Fillers are safe when injected by our licensed trained medical professionals. Juvéderm fillers have well-documented, rigorous studies supporting the safety and efficacy of the product.
Are there any side effects?
Downtime post-treatment is minimal. The most common effects are swelling and bruising, which are minimized with ice, arnica and the avoidance of blood thinners one week prior to the procedure. In very rare instances, fillers can be inadvertently injected into a blood vessel, blocking blood flow which can result in tissue damage. This is why it is important to have a dissolving agent on hand to restore blood flow quickly. We keep dissolving agents on hand at all of our RM clinics.
