How Sculptra® Aesthetic works
Poly-L-lactic acid.
Sculptra® Aesthetic is made of a synthetic form of lactic acid, which helps to stimulate collagen.
Revitalize collagen production.
The injected Sculptra microparticles are absorbed by the skin and stimulate collagen production, reinforcing the skin’s inner structure and restoring its volume. It literally acts as a seed to regrow lost collagen!
Before Treatment
We recommend scheduling your Sculptra® Aesthetic appointment at least three to four weeks before any special events. We suggest you discontinue Aspirin, Ibuprofen, green tea, fish oil, and vitamin E one week before your visit to minimize possible bruising. Please avoid other cosmetic procedures and dental work or cleanings two weeks before treatment.
When you arrive for your treatment, your Aesthetic Injector will review your treatment plan, capture before photos, and answer any questions you may have.
During Treatment
Your Aesthetic Injector will cleanse and mark the areas for your treatment. We apply a topical anesthetic to make your procedure more comfortable. You will feel a mild pinch or pressure during treatment as the Sculptra® Aesthetic is injected. Please allow one hour or more, depending on the area treated and the results you are trying to achieve.
After Treatment
Do not massage, touch, or manipulate the injection site. Avoid heavy exercise on the day of your treatment. Avoid makeup for 24 hours, cosmetic procedures for two weeks, and COVID vaccines for six weeks.
You will see an immediate improvement in the treated area. However, these results will diminish over a few days and begin to build gradually over the next six weeks. It is not unusual to experience tenderness, swelling, bruising, and/or firmness and bumps at the injection sites following treatment.
Multiple treatments spaced four to six weeks apart achieve optimal results with Sculptra® Aesthetic. Lastly, the Aesthetic Injector will provide you with an at-home skin care recommendation that best suits your skin type and needs.

It may take a few months to see results, which will continually improve as collagen is built in the skin and adds more volume.
Will I experience any side effects?
It is normal to experience some swelling, bruising, and redness for a few days after your Sculptra® Aesthetic treatment.
