How Kybella® works
Deoxycholic acid.
Kybella® is made of synthetic deoxycholic acid (a naturally occurring molecule in your body) that aids in the breakdown and absorption of fat.
Destroys fat cells.
The Kybella® injections break down fat cells and once eliminated, you will see a noticeable reduction in chin fullness and an improved chin profile.
Multiple treatments are needed.
The number of treatments varies. Your Aesthetic Injector will determine how many treatment sessions are required to meet your aesthetic goal.
Before Treatment
We recommend scheduling your Kybella® appointment at least six weeks before a special event. It’s recommended to discontinue Aspirin, Ibuprofen, green tea, fish oil, and vitamin E one week before your visit to minimize possible bruising. Please avoid other cosmetic procedures and dental work or cleanings two weeks before treatment.
When you arrive for your treatment, your Aesthetic Injector will review your treatment plan, capture before and after photos, and answer any questions you may have.
During Treatment
Your Aesthetic Injector will cleanse and mark the areas for your treatment. Ice may be applied to the treatment area for comfort. Several quick injections will be administered under your chin via an ultra-fine needle. Throughout the procedure, you may feel a mild pinch, pressure, and stinging sensation. Your Kybella® treatment will last approximately 45 minutes.
After Treatment
Do not massage, touch, or manipulate the injection site. Avoid heavy exercise on the day of your treatment. Avoid makeup for 24 hours and cosmetic procedures for two weeks.
After your visit, it is not unusual to experience temporary inflammation at the injection site, redness, numbness, pain, itching, swelling, and bruising.
The swelling minimizes over a few weeks, with your final results seen at four to five weeks. For optimal results, additional treatments may be recommended. Lastly, the Aesthetic Injector will provide an at-home skin care routine that best suits your skin type and needs.
