Laser Hair Removal is a treatment which eliminates unwanted hair from virtually any area on the body.
During the Laser Hair Removal Process, a laser is used to target the pigment in the unwanted hair, inhibiting the future growth of hair follicles in that area. Common areas of treatment include the underarms, bikini line, legs, upper lip, and chin.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it common to see no results after one session of laser hair removal?
Patients may start noticing reduction in hair regrowth as soon as the first session of treatment.
Hair grows in 3 stages, and Laser Hair Reduction is only able to target the “initial growth” stage. When you go through a series of treatments spaced 6-8 weeks apart, you will notice about 10-20% reduction in hair regrowth after each treatment.
Furthermore, after each treatment, you will notice that your hair grows back back lighter, finer, and at a slower rate. Eventually, patients are expected to be 95-98% hair free after a full series of treatments.
Do you need to do laser hair removal maintenance treatments?
Maintenance treatments are recommended, as the Laser Hair Removal technology cannot stop your body from eventually producing new hair as a result of changes in hormones & other external factors.
Typically, maintenance treatments are performed once or twice a year. However, frequency is dependent on your individual body.
Is laser hair removal really removal, or is it just reduction?
Laser Hair Removal is permanent hair reduction. Once you complete a series of 5-8 treatments in each area, any hair that continues to grow will do so slowly & be very fine — so fine that you don’t even notice!
Added benefits of laser hair removal include permanently stopping ingrown hair and razor burn.
How long does it take to recover from laser hair removal?
There is no down time for Laser Hair Removal treatments! However, there are standard pre- and post- care instructions that should be followed, as it is important to keep your body temperature down after laser treatments for at least 48 hours to avoid any adverse reactions.
Some of these recommendations include the avoidance of:
- Direct sun exposure
- Tanning booths
- Self-tanners
- Exercise
- Hot tubs
- Steam room
