Geoffrey Pierce

Geoffrey Pierce

My husband Geoff Pierce should be a finalist because he has lost and gained weight so many times in his life and has even done Gastric Bypass surgery. He is a great man who loves his children and family greatly. He wants to change his life and be around for a long time but with his current lifestyle, he won't be. Geoff has struggled with weight his entire life. When we met over 12 years ago he was heavy yet still happy and confident. In the last 12 years we have had many trials medically, emotionally and financially. As a result, he has gained a lot of weight in the past few years. The weight has held him back in so many ways, such as in social gatherings, in physical activities and in his career. I know he can do anything he sets his mind to do. This opportunity would help him know he can change his life, not fail and be so much happier because of it! It would help him learn how to live a healthier life, know that weight loss is not hopeless and that he actually can get better and be healthier. This experience would change all of our lives and help him become the man I have always known he is and can be. It would be such a gift and blessing for our whole family. The money would be an added bonus to help our family financially and remove a little stress in our lives. Please choose Geoff Pierce to be the winner in this 2011 Chubby Hubby Contest. It will not only change his life, but the lives of our entire family!

Edward Carlise

Edward Carlise

I chose to enter Ed in the Chubby Hubby contest because he is in need of a serious boost and wakeup call! We have been married for almost 6 years and have been through a lot of up and downs together, but we have always figured out a way to stay positive and not kill each other. When we got married, Ed was a little overweight, but not unhealthy and then it all changed on March 3, 2006. I was pregnant with our first son and was 21 weeks along, when I got an infection and our son, John Anthony was stillborn. This was the hardest day we would ever go through in our life, losing a child is something that I wouldn't wish upon anyone. After this day, we both turned to food for comfort, even though we didn't think so. After this, it took us 2 years to have another child and we were blessed with Kegan on December 29, 2008. This was the best day of our lives and I truly saw a different side of Ed that day. Kegan was daddy's little guy and nothing would ever stand in the middle of their bond. Everything was going good until October 2009 when Ed was let go from his job and a couple months later, he found out he had Thyroid Cancer. He felt as though his life was falling apart and I really saw his confidence fall, feeling as though he wasn't contributing to the family. He had his Thyroid removed in April 2010 and the doctors said it was the best thing to do even though he would need to be on medication the rest of his life. Well it's been almost a year since his surgery and he has STILL not received the right dose of medication because his levels are all over the place and there are certain days it's hard for him to get out of bed, he is just so tired! Ed stays at home with our now 2 year old son and I think that he drives Ed crazy! They have a love/hate relationship and he would do anything for our little boy. I want to see Ed live long enough to see Kegan graduate, get married and see his grandkids and if he doesn't get help to lose weight, he won't be here much longer. Kegan and I love him very much and all we want is for him to get healthy so we can be more active as a family.

John Angell

John Angell

John Angell is a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He is 44 years old and like most of the country, out of shape. He was not always this way, in his younger days he was quite fit as a Marine, able to run miles at a time. However, things change and life happens. Over the years John had packed on a few extra pounds and had tried every diet there was out there to lose the weight on his own. Like many of us, he has lost and gained weight but unfortunately, he gained more than he lost. Last year was quite a rough year for John. He was under a great deal of stress dealing with his wife's health issues and losing his job and medical insurance which caused him to gain even more weight throughout the year. The additional weight gain has caused many health problems for him. These health problems are now starting to affect his life significantly. So when his wife heard about the Chubby Hubby Contest on 96.9 she felt that since her health issues contributed to him gaining the weight, it was only fair she helped him lose the weight and entered him in the contest. John is very excited about being accepted to the program with his friends votes and encouragement and would ask that each one of you follow him through his weight loss journey over the next five weeks and vote for him to win in the end.

Benjamin Fuentes

Benjamin Fuentes

I entered my husband Ben in the chubby hubby contest to motivate him to loose weight. He was diagnosed last year with diabetes and his biggest struggle is his weight. Every 3 to 6 months he is in the hospital in ICU. His daily sugars are above 500. I looked into enrolling him in a gym but cost is to much. After paying for his medicines and Dr. co-pays there is not much left.

Scott Musselwhite

Scott Musselwhite

I met Scott in San Diego through my brother in 1991. They were best friends. Although I lived in Phoenix and he in San Diego, we became good friends. Scott was very active in softball, biking, hiking and motorcycle riding. After the death of his father in 2001, Scott moved to Phoenix and everything changed. We soon discovered there was more than friendship, we were in love! In 2005 we had a beautiful wedding in the sand dunes, spending three days in the place we love, surrounded by our family and friends. We decided not to waste anytime starting a family. Since both of us were older and Scott being adopted, we had a high risk pregnancy. Having no known family health history, was cause for concern. We were blessed with a beautiful healthy daughter that following spring. She has been blessed with her daddy's charm, good looks, and sense of humor. After our daughter was born, the pounds started adding up. The beginning of my Chubby Hubby! We started hiking to the refrigerator and riding the recliner. You would think chasing a toddler around would help shed the pounds, NOT! Most of the time we were just to exhausted to fix healthy dinners and fast food restaurants became part of our Christmas card list! We had looked into different weight loss programs, but cost was an issue and quite frankly we just weren't motivated enough! This past fall, I became ill, which was the motivation for me to lose my weight. But what about Scott? It's easy enough to fix healthy meals, but is eating the entire chicken really healthy?! Healthy cereal for breakfast doesn't count when you eat 4 bowls in one sitting! Obviously portion control was going to be a problem! Around this same time, Scott's mother was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. With the stress of worrying about his mom, dieting has been the least of his concerns. Scott's mom lives in northern California so we keep in touch via webcam. Recently our daughter asked if Grandma was going to die. We told her the doctors were helping Grandma to live for a long time. She then said to Scott, "I want you and mommy to live for a long time too!" Well, that did it! Scott was motivated! Scott's mom has always been a very healthy person. She is 76 years young and kayaked the lake near her house up until 2 years ago. She only stopped because her friends stopped. If cancer could affect his mom as healthy as she is, then what chance did he have? His unknown biological family health history and knowing the risk of heart disease in overweight men, really scared him. A few weeks ago I heard about the Chubby Hubby contest and I knew this would be that extra push to help Scott be a father and a husband for a long, long time.

Adrian Romero

Adrian Romero

We (Adrian & I) chose to put him in the contest so he could lose weight because we have two young children. A 5year old daughter and 3month old son who truly adore him, and would love for him to stay active, so he can do things with them. Adrian works nights so its hard for him to find the time to work out, he also gets off late so it causes him to do a lot of late night snacking. With his job he's always on the road so he tends to eat out a lot, or grab snacks here and their. Being Hispanic, eating is more like a tradition, so bar-b-q's , carne asadas, and regular family get together doesn't make it any easier. With beans, rice, tortillas, traditional salsa, and an ice cold beer included at every meal, dieting is very easily forgotten. Adrian has tried other diet programs but never saw big results, so he just lost interest. Now that we have the two children his drive to loose the weight is much stronger, and not just about him anymore.
